Artwork / Design Guidelines

If you wish to supply your own artwork we kindly request that it’s supplied to us in PDF format.

Most of the generally available programs have an option to “SAVE AS” PDF (choose Print or High Quality option).

Other acceptable options are: .JPEG .JPG .PNG and .EPS file formats. (300dpi at actual size required or highest resolution option available) If you send us other formats such as Microsoft Word or Publisher a £5.00 + VAT setup fee will apply for these file types.

We cannot use artwork created from phone apps, screen grabs neither can we print images taken from websites.

We understand that supplying artwork for a commercial printers can be a bit of a minefield (there’s way too much jargon and technical terminology!) so we will keep things as simple as we can.

When you’ve placed an order simply send your artwork though to us via email sales@printemporium.co.uk (or with a service such as www.wetransfer.com if your file is too large!)

Once we’ve received your artwork we’ll check over it for any potential printing problems and email through a PDF for you to sign off before printing starts if you sent a file we needed to convert.

If you’re a design whiz and would like to supply us with a print ready PDF file please read on to see our technical specifications (please note these requirements, it’ll certainly speed up the process as you wont need to sign off your design)

PDF (X/1a Format if option is given)
3mm bleeds complete without crop marks
5mm safe area (keep text at least 5mm away from the edges)
Text converted to curves/outlines (you can alternatively embed the fonts if you prefer!)
At least 300dpi for all non vector graphics
CMYK colour format
Transparencies, drop shadows and complex gradients should be flattened where possible
Please remove unwanted things from your design, do not just cover them with boxes as they can confuse our software and also create larger files than necessary. (Lazy designers who leave last weeks design behind the new one - you know who you are!)

We’ve listed some tips below to help you get it right, if you need any assistance please don’t hesitate to contact us.
